I'm trying to decide exactly what I have here before listing it on eBay. Hopefully someone can help me. This stands approximately 7 3/4" tall to top of lid x by about 5 1/2" diameter. The registration mark on the bottom is glazed filled making it difficult to read but the lid has a patent date of 9 November 1869. There is a vent hole in the lid. I reckon it could be a small tureen but there is no spoon slot. Also, is there a pattern name known? I know the company was formed in 1860-1965 and became the Enoch Wedgwood Co in 1965. Thank you.[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

You may be right SIS, thanks.I thought the lid may be a marriage even though it is a perfect fit. I had considered that this was a large sugar but the vent hole was throwing me. I noticed that there weren't any measurements in that listing on WP. I reckon now the conundrum is what the lid went to.

I know the opening hat lid fits would be kind of small for it - but the diamond pattern makes be wonder if it went to a small "pudding mould." Steamed pudding? I'm not sure they even had lids.

It could be a lid for a teapot or coffee pot, but I didn't find it. They have vents sometimes.

Hm. I think the lid matches. I also think it's some kind of cooking widget, like an egg coddler or custard baker. What an odd little thing!

Interesting Janet, thanks. I see I miss-spoke in my original post. It is the "registration diamond" on the bottom of the bottom piece that is glazed over. making it hard to read
