    Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can give me some idea about the collection I found in my grandparents' house in the attic... Or maybe even value... I heard my father talking about how they fled from Czechoslovakia when the second world war started in '39 and that my grandmother's family was very rich and she took all of the crystal glasses, jugs, ashtrays and almost every single other valuables to the train. Most of the glasses were never even used, some even still have the Bohemia sticker on the bottom... It is absolutely amazing to find all this stuff dirty and full of spider webs... So please, if anyone has any idea what I found and maybe even the value or where to evaluate them, I am probably going to sell some of it because my house if full...

Is this blue nude vase pottery, porcelain or glass?

There seems to be some nice brilliant cut crystal pieces among the pictures. The round metal piece with the small glasses that fitinto it is a Vodka set. Some of the goblets look like they may have an acid etch on the bottom. If they do have a mark, seeing it would be most helpful.

Roemer is a good spelling too. ;)

The cut glass is typically Bohemian, vast amounts of work in it, but not much value any more. Any marks on any of the metal ware? The horses look interesting.

Haha! I don't know why I thought an 'h' belonged in there, and I also didn't even notice good old Google corrected my spelling on the search page!

I'm not sure if it's painted or made of blue material, but it isn't porcelain or glass for sure...

Yeah those horses are my favourite :shame: I don't know anything about it's origin or the artist, but it's probably Czechoslovakian... Because the other one is... The statues and the candle holder are the only things I remember from my childhood and I know that the other statue represents Hansel and Gretel, I don't remember how it's said in Czech language, but I know that it is from a Czechoslovakian version of German opera and it is the only one in the world... I've seen it in my grandfather's book about fifteen years ago, but the book is gone... If I find it, I'll update my findings

#Edit: Oh sorry I forgot to reply about the metal ware... If I'm honest, I didn't even look for any logos or anything. I'll check as soon as I get home.

Would you take a picture of the bottom of that dancing nude vase and post it please. We should be able to tell what it's made of by looking at the bottom.

Indeed. I'll lay odds it's milk glass.

It's the right color for blue milk glass, but does milk glass ever have a matte surface?

Yup. Perhaps opaque is a better term than milk, but think about malachite glass, hm?

Malachite glass is a new one for me... saw some nice pieces in Google.

I love it. The good stuff is mostly Bohemian between the wars and it's super.

I've had lots of vintage and new Czech glass beads and buttons, and love all the glass varieties. Between the colors, textures, and shapes... ahhhhhhhhh!

sorry to say, but I see mediocre stuff only. those Römers could be from anywhere in continental Europe and post-war. Hänsel und Gretel (Jeníček a Mařenka) ? you mean that terracotta figure ? those are not children but grown-ups in typical traditional costumes. I'd check Johann Maresch or Bechyne.
