    Sorry, I meant the ebay listing and the picture at the top of the post are identical. The background gives it away.

    No doubt, and probably posted here for publicity. The only problem being I have a strong hunch that thing's modern Chinese. :cat::cat::cat:

    @Rita
    Are you thinking of buying it?
    I would worry about this statement

    "I have been informed that this is a very early Staffordshire collectable cat and quite rare and probably Scottish."

    I'm not sure how something can be Staffordshire and Scottish.

    Although this is about the Staffordshire Dogs, the way things were made and painted would apply to the cat.

    Made about two days ago. A copy of a Scottish spongeware cat.

    How do you know it's a copy ???

    Clay, base is all wrong, lack of age, lousy painting slapped on, fake wear, fake crackling, the really badly done blue with the spongeware encroaching and absolutely no quality to it at all. Plus, I've seen them before.

    I haven't, but I've seen lots of new Chinese pottery. As for cats, Her Royal Fuzziness is in my lap kneading holes into my leg again.
