Abstract Oil Painting - Street Scene

    Since I enjoyed everyone's responses in the Jolly Man thread, I thought I'd share another unsigned painting from the same auction. I like to buy these because it's fun to hunt down a mystery, even though it's likely to be unsolved. For if there were an easy answer, the auction house surely would have gotten there.

    Today, it's one listed as "Abstract Oil Painting - Street Scene" and this one is oil on either very thick paper or a very thin board, one or the other. I'm not sure how I would define the paper. The date is definitely '70s or later. Comments?

    I don't think I would call this an abstract since you can actually make out what it is. I rather like it. Being unsigned, I doubt you will be able to attribute it even if you find similar works.

    I agree it's not strictly abstract. The style is impressionistic, but I'm not sure which, if any, of the art world movements it would fit.
