It was in the 60s. I have no idea where she stayed, but think it was on or near the boardwalk? Or she liked to hang out on the boardwalk? I remember we went into a Steiff store and she bought me a stuffed animal, I think a squirrel.

We are 13 miles from AC. My grandmom always took us to the Ice Capades every year and then out to dinner on the boardwalk and shopping there, too.

 

I love the carving on the chair, Emily Ann. I don't know anything about furniture.

I'd call it a late Victorian frankenchair, but that's just me. It looks like part Georgian wingback and part Renaissance Revival, i.e. a classic Victorian mashup. Brad would know what it's worth a lot more than I would.

I don't remember if it was Brad or Gregg who asked about the glass top table he saw in my couch picture of my couch. This is one of two coffee tables I bought at a house sale. They originally had the brighter blue cobalt tops, but my father worked at Nurre's glass factory in Egg Harbor City, NJ back in the 1940s and he saved this other thicker glass with a more aquamarine color. This glass is much rarer than the standard bright cobalt blue, and this glass is very thick. I was so happy that my father's glass tops fit into these tables. I also got a low coffee table, large and squarish, that I gave to my sister. The whole set of three was $85. I think vintage furniture is so much more of a bargain than new furniture.

And I found this last week at an ARC thrift shop. I went in every week and looked at it.....at first they wanted $75, too steep. Then they marked it down to $56.25....considered it. Then the last time I was looking at it the manager said "Make me an offer" so I offered $40, and he said $45, sold! I use it to keep my canned cat food and cat treats in.

And made so much better, unless you purchase top of the line new furniture.

 

Pat, the problem is, you can't even buy top-of- the line furniture many places.... there was another similar cabinet there, not as ornate as this one, they were probably a set, same size, same coloring. Just wanted this one. From just researching it, it is circa 1930s waterfall style.
