I pretty much have given up on going to our Goodwill and Salvation Army. Goodwill's prices are high here, and they never have any jewelry. The Salvation Army near here also never has any decent jewelry - I believe they have a store on ebay, so most of it likely gets filtered through that store before any lands in the showcase.

I decided to make a quick stop at both places the other day, and I'm glad I did.

First, this 10k pin from goodwill. It's an organization pin which is why I think it probably slipped through their watch; they may not know that sometimes they're gold.

Then I went onto Goodwill. For once they had quite a bit of jewelry. All cheap costume as usual, but somehow these slipped by them. There's also a Theda silver cross with silver chain that I don't have a picture for.

Gold-filled cross with sunstone. No markings.

12K Gold Chain with 12K Cross - the chain weighs out at over 10 grams, and I haven't weighed the cross yet. Turns out what I thought was a worn spot (I posted about the other day) was just tarnish or a shadow. Both acid tested a couple of times cause I'm paranoid about gold testing; I don't want to make a mistake. I tried to get the chain sparkly, but my efforts fell way short. I'm happy though.

No markings that I've been able to find on either the cross or the chain.

If anyone knows the name for that type of chain, please let me know. I know I found it in the past, but I'm not finding it now. It's kind of like a double rolo chain.

Oh boy, the solds on that last item are soooo dismal on ebay. Barely over scrap or even under scrap value. I was so excited, but now I'm a little discouraged.

And a correction to my cross necklace - it's 10k. It may actually be 12k, but I don't have any 12k acid right now. I don't know what I was thinking (or not thinking when I typed in 12k).

It's hard to tell for certain from the above photo, but I'm wondering if your sunstone isn't actually what's called "goldstone".

You're absolutely right. I must have had a brain fart because I knew that was goldstone, and yet I typed "sunstone" here and in my ebay listing. Thanks so much for pointing that out!

Question for anyone - in my picture, do the chain and pendant look like rose gold? I mean, I know they are because I have them in person, but my pictures seem to make them look like yellow gold. But I can't tell if it's just my monitor.

I currently don't have a great photographing set up, and I end up doing a lot of manipulating the photos in terms of brightness, hue, and saturation, and in the pictures of this cross, it looks more like yellow gold to me.

Just wondering how my picture comes across to others.

Thanks komo. I need to retake my pictures. I tried very hard to clean the chain, but my efforts were quite blah looking.

I had a picture, but it was so washed out, I decided to reshoot it. Let's see how this looks when I upload it....

I'm not sure this one is much better than the one posted above. I should have only shot one part of the chain, not two parts side by side. Shooting on black or some other color rather than white might have provided a better contrast too.
