Me too. Why they're coming up that way is known only to the Great Programmer, and he ain't talkin'.

 

This is a bit a/f, but it's around 250 years old. A Battersea enamel patch box with armorial. Less than a cup of coffee.

 

Battered isn't the word, poor thing, but it needed saving.

 

It did. And even in that state, it's worth more than I paid. I need to find the crest.

 

Can't help there, but somebody commissioned that.

I believe these are made of pine needles? Not sure what the piece with the lid is supposed to be







these were in a bag of souvenir spoons, it was hard to see/read the mark through the dirt and bag but for $3 I took the chance, Birks Sterling Love the 'Bon Apitite' on the shovel part - still more polishing to do

 

luv the seal skin patch work.....I have one I use as ta trivet for an Inuit carving....

I don't think I've ever seen a pristine Battsea enamel box. (I've seen many photos but haven't seen one in RL! )

 

I just started seeing, yesterday, that instead of image thumbnails, they look like little written files.....very weird!!!

 

Stuff from that Judaica estate sale I went to last weekend. I always look for sales in that area, or did, because it's within walking distance of a Conservative synagogue and at the far end a former Orthodox one. The tefillin are already claimed; my cousin knows someone where there live in Maine who needs some. The mug is Chrysler. There's a silver chain that melts for about what I spent on the first image. The second $20 happened when I went after a bag for the Tefillin...and found a second set! The fabric strips are looking for prayer shawls to be sewn into. Not sure about the beaded neck strip with the bullion work. The thing in the plastic bag... I don't know the proper name, but an Orthodox gentleman wears it under his shirt with the tassels hanging out. The brass piece seems to be a Yarzeit candle holder; it's for a friend.

And old Jewish couple who owned the local Judaica store. It's gone now, and these were leftovers.

 

Not a "find" necessarily, but I did take some of my inherited jewelery and sold it for scrap gold. That charm bracelet of my Mom's is now history, although I saved 3 charms from it that I like. My Dad's taste was not always top notch, but he always bought quality and the bracelet was 18kt. So 3 piles of stuff, 10, 14 and 18kt and I walked away with $1182!!! Woo Hoo. Apparently, gold was the highest value yesterday since January first. Colour me happy.

 

The goodies from Thursday. It was a thrift that pickers never hit, and I doubt they get much good stuff. But...oops. The vase is three colors of glass and was hand blown. No siggie. THe stuff that looks like amber is amber. The garnet beads are on "oh well" metal, but the silver is silver otherwise and the bracelets are both real. The watch chain , whoopsie 1, is 10k. The circle pin, whoopsie 2, is 14k white gold with pearls. The little pendant? 18k; that one surprised even me. The odd part is the pin looks 1950s/60s but has that WWI-era clasp. Maybe a jeweler had a stash left over somehow.

The pearls are gorgeous. Is that necklace amber?

 

Okay, still not getting pics up. But I had to have this for $4.
