Two wood carvings origin ? Age?

    I don't think these have much age but i have been wrong before. Would like to know country of origin and any other tidbits. Thanks. Excuse the dog hair. I meant to crop. I have two shedders! woman 7" man 5"

    the woman is african tourist carving..... 80's......give or take.

    West Africa is the best I can do. Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana???

    I would say Kenya on the woman carving. I've had one very much the same that was labeled as such.

    Yes, the woman is from Kenya/east Africa, and probably by a Makonde carver.

    The man is more interesting. I would like to see a view of the front, straight on, and his face. The treatment of the spine reminds me of the "mo'ai kavakava" figures from Easter Island (Rapa Nui). But the squatting posture and the hands on the side of the face remind me of Indonesian figures.

    but there ' are ' major differences.....
    which could be age related...

    Larks is different enuf that it's either much younger......or older...imo

    Thank you For the pictures. I had come to the conclusion they were ancestors but Leti was the only one that came close your pics are closer including the little rock? that are squatting on. Batak would make sense since my parents lived in Jakarta. Thank you again for everyone's help.

    There is a good chance he is old since my parents would not have purchased a modern souvenir.
