Have never seen that teapot before. I have the Farberware version coffee pot that has very similar bakelite handles. Cool piece.

Can't think that the name your poison glasses are by Briard. Just doesn't look like his work but I could be wrong. Most of his work has a signature incorporated. Have you checked for one?

Edit: A little research finds these attributed to Briard by many.

Seriously, I think I have something, somewhere, with the same bells.

 

There are many of the poison glasses that have the Briard signature, and as Brad said, many do attribute the unsigned ones to him as well. I agree, not his style at all.

Terry, it looks like some real amber beads there - the round ones with knots between the beads. Is that the one that has the threaded clasp?

The chip on this one looks more like I would expect from glass

409 took nothing off but slimychrome got a little spot of yellow brown on these

(Is there an amber/yellow colored bead in the mix or is that just a result of the camera flash?)

When listing show the simichrome result, measure the largest bead at a minimum, and include the length and weight of the necklace.

 

Yesterday, I found these receipts sitting loose in a mid-19th century type face book that I think are kind of cool. Apologies for the lousy photo, which I took with my phone.

I can't decide if they're samples of what could be produced using elements from the type face book, or if they're actual receipts from the Fall River P.O.? I'd think if they were real, they would have been signed?

There's a Fall River in Massachusetts, don't know if there's one anywhere else. The book wasn't published in MA, though.

Any thoughts?

 

Those look legit to me. If they were samples they wouldn't have the gall ink on them.

 

I hope you're right, since it makes them more interesting and valuable.

Thanks for mentioning "gall ink," which I wasn't familiar with. How can you tell that's the type of ink that was used to write in the info?

 

The handwritten part looks brownish. Iron based inks turn brown when they oxidize. I also don't think anyone would have bothered hand writing anything on a sample.

 

Ah, gotcha. I'll have to look at the receipts carefully to see if my photos made the ink look brown or if it really is.

Could be, Komo. It's hard to see in my photos, but the $0.57 for three months was for the box rental and postage. If only it were something like that today!

Terry - The ugly green cylindrical beads are bakelite almost for sure. The cherry prystal (unless you're screamingly lucky and they're cherry amber) ones blinded me. Check those dark ones loose in the bucket too. I hit some once that looked similar ... native cut garnets. Sold them way under what they were worth. (sigh)

 

How would one tell the difference between amethyst and colored glass?
