Carved Dragon Stick with Crude Tenon

Well, maybe it was part of a piece of furniture...?

~16'' long, ~1 5/8'' X ~1 1/4'' X ~1/4'' rough tenon; mahogany or similar. A dragon without discernible eyes, and certainly no claws. I doubt there's any age to it...perhaps a function-lever for a recliner? Hardly worth mentioning...but just maybe it'll be interesting to a few of you, as it was to me. Thanks for lookin'!

 

Handle for a fly whisk?

 

Hadn't thought of that...sure could be!

 

aren't fly whisk handles round where they meet the hair..?

 

I was thinking perhaps the handle slots into a separate wooden piece, quite likely round, into which the hair is attached. Then, if all the flailing wears out the hair, you can get a new whisk head & keep the nice handle. You realize I'm making this up, just following form to possible function.
