    Hello,

I just moved into a house with this statue in the garden. I know it’s been there for at least 40 years as have an old photo of the house. it’s all one piece.

does anyone have an ideas of providence, material or value?

sorry post title should be Statue but can’t edit.

    thanks!

Well that's a nice thing. Can you get a close up please? It's looking like carved marble, in which case you're a very lucky person.

Oh,and which country are you in?

Yes - Thread Tools is a drop down that should have "edit" unless the time limit has arrived.

The broken arm makes me think cement (or something like it) rather than a stone sculpture. Does the sitting boy have a basket of fish next to him?

Sure looks like marble to me. Weathering is typical.

Looks like Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer to me, but I dunno. Nice statue!

I tried searching with this "cleaned-up" image, to no avail.

    Thank you!

kentworld - it does look like Tom and Huck! The basket seems to contain fish.

Verybrad - my uninformed guess was marble as well so helpful to hear your view

Their clothing looks just a bit too fancy for Tom and Huck.

Certainly marble and very well carved indeed. I'll bet it's Italian 19th C or so: there's a thing for these charming carvings of children and young people. You might want to have a gentle rootle and see if it's signed anywhere.

    DO NOT CLEAN IT.

Four figures my side of the pond.
