I'm helping my mother in law get rid of a couple items.
Can someone give me a fair asking price for this and maybe some details about it.
I believe its late 1700's or early 1800's.
    Dimensions 57" high. 13 3/4" deep. 48 3/4" wide

And better pics with closeups. Can't tell age from a blurry distance shot, sometimes hard even with good pics. Open a cab door top and bottom and show inside (much more important than outside), show the glass up close, back of piece, close up of feet, etc.

i would say its more a hepplewhited [style after 1770ish] bookcase on cupbord, in two parts, top [so whole thing] being empire [1820-30ish] cove molded cornice with recessed arched frieze, divided panelled glazed doors flanked by engaged columns. i would assume its from ny state.

you would have to determine the price yourself based on research and good sense.

others will disagree. thats the fun.

    peace

I posted a reply earlier that for some reason is no longer here... so one more time...
I'm thinking I wasn't logged in when I hit the post button.

They are all in imgur... see below

I do not have that 'upload a file' button on my interface for some reason... that is why I uploaded them all to imgur.

Hopefully the 9 on imgur will be enough...otherwise I have to pull this out of storage to take more pics. I didn't take the assembled one that is why it's so blurry. It hasn't been assembled since I got it.

Heh... well, I was considering joining this group and posting my research :)

Anyway, thank you for the replies everyone. :)
My mother in law was looking in the 4K range for this... I was just trying to confirm the accuracy for this ...too low, just right, too high???

JMHO, and I could be very wrong, but brown furniture is not commanding the premium it used to. I think 4K is way to ambitious in today's market. You need to check in your area what furniture like this sells for and let Mom-in-Law down gently!

    Like I said, JMHO :)

    Heyyyy, thank you!!!

And I don't know what has changed since yesterday... and I'm a very computer literate person... but my missing 'Upload a File' button is now present!!!

Not really sure what the 'Good thing its not your mother' means but thank you for the link. Seeing prices requires sign up and I have to run right now but I will definitely get on that later.

Might also be termed a butler's secretary. Agree that this is a bit of a transitional piece and a very early 1800s date would seem accurate. Searching butler's secretary at liveauctioneers should give you an idea of value (free to sign up to get pricing). Doing so gives me many pages of results and shows me that most sell under $2000.00 with many way under.

You can refine the search by adding style terms such as Hepplewhite, Sheraton, Empire, etc.
