I would appreciate your thoughts on this ring. The seller didn’t know much about it and called it a “princess” ring. I know it’s sterling because of a faded mark on the interrior but not much else.

The flowy style made me believe it could be Art Nouveau. The band of the ring has much wear and if it did have marks they are unfortunately long gone.

What I’m really curious about is who the woman could be. I didn’t think it was a crown and it looks like it’s a tiny crescent moon on her head. Even if it’s not very old at under $20 I felt it was a very lucky purchase. FF936473-40C6-4B7B-854C-C4205A4B7D22.jpeg E1639BA6-B9C9-4C44-B257-0BF139C2B35B.jpeg

It's art nouveau in general style. Agree it does not date back to the time when that style originated. A crescent moon is one of the 'attributes' of the goddess Diana/Artemis:

If that is what is atop the lady's head, or at her throat, modeller may have had Diana in mind or some more generic, fantasy moon goddess.

I don't think you will ID the woman.

If you search "Art Nouveau Face ring" on Ebay you will find vintage and newer examples in different designs.

Maybe someone will correct me, but another reason to assume this is not antique but vintage or newer, a ring with a woman's Art Nouveau face, wouldn't have been common back then. You'd see boxes, items of decor, but not so much silver rings with a face. I don't think it was a fashion back then.

That said, I think you did okay for $20. It has a very nice look with a fair amount of silver.

Good to know, I had no idea it wasn’t a fashion.

I appreciate everyone’s comments! I’m happy with it in the end, even if it’s a newer piece. I hope to see more revivals of older art concepts in jewelry.

Agree art nouveau in style only based on the craftsmanship which is contemporary rather than vintage.

    Hi,
Your fingers and nails are beautiful. It is the first remark I have ever stated. Usually it is unfortunately the nastiest things I see in photos of items. Congratulations!!!!!:D:D:D

Lol thank you! My job keeps everything heavily regulated to include the length of my nails and what colors they can be. I try to keep them feminine since it’s one of the few ways I can express individuality.
