    Hi,

this is one of my latest finds. It‘s a very nice silver-filigree card case. I think it‘s from china, late 19th century. The Potugueses and Ottomans used similar techniques.

The original box is heavily damaged, but it‘s an extra and wasn‘t pictured or mentioned. The leather seems to be snake leather, again leading to china.
It has more patina than the pictures suggest, but was definetely cleaned a while ago.
The shield has engraved initials. The case was probably made for the european market.

the original box, while tattered...must be what kept the case in such good condition...

yes, that’s probably the reason for the pretty nice condition.

    Thanks:)
That‘s definetely a big part of the game for me. I love researching my pieces and learn more about them.

Not much too find around here now. I visted an antique mall I rarely go to because it is so crammed you can't turn around or have anyone walk by you. A woman has a chest of drawers crammed with costume jewelry in baggies, but you have to put things on the floor to even see anything then put them back. A few things. I loved this modern brooch.
