Saw this at the local SA but with no signature and not be able to take a closer look because of the glass I don't feel like spending $50.
Sorry, no other photos. The visible painted area is round. Maybe about 12".
    What do you think?
    Thanks

Colorized photograph? That's what I think I'm seeing. Nicely done though.

Paint is involed but can't tell if it is over photograph.

Were I able to claim any Spanish relatives, no matter how far back, I'd have bought her in a heartbeat!

It's a lovely image, though she looks awfully sad.

It looks somewhat like it might be a print that's been coated to look like a painting. Plus it's not too common for a painting to be under glass.

Not me. I borrow most of my ancestors from Sir Joshua Reynolds.

I'd say long exposure photography.(LOL) I've only seen one smiling image in one of those in years. The lady in that one is my multiple great-grandmother. The rest are all serious looking because if you try and hold a smile in those exposures you end up looking like a post-mortem.

They had a sale and I got it. It does appear to be overpainted photograph.

It's exceptionally well done, for one of these. I've seen some that looked like they belonged in horror movies. No clue what it's worth, but if you're going to sell it pretty girls do well.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The painting does look well done. These types of photographs are called solar enlargements or solar portraits or crayon portraits (even if they were not done with crayon -- that is just a generic name). Or even possibly crayon enlargement -- although I haven't seen that last option.

Call Vanity Fair and ask if they are interested.
