A friend of mine gave me a sack of jewelry that he got from his mother and aunt's jewelry boxes after they passed. It had about 100 pieces of jewelry mostly unmarked costume. But there was a 16 KT gold chain, some Miriam Haskell earrings and some sterling silver pieces. I would very much like some help with these 11 pieces - mostly with older catches. One with a strange mark, and one set that looks a little nicer. Please can anyone shout out anything to help. I would very much appreciate it. It will take a couple of posts.

Excellent. Sterling and Germany on the green pin.

On the boat, I could see the mark clearly with my new loupe but couldn't line up my camera. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh!

There is definitely a snake head. Looks like maybe a crown.

Definitely some interesting pieces in this group!! Here are some general thoughts/guesses.

The garnet one, hard to see close up. The finish looks sort of tarnished or worn -- if worn, it's probably rhinestones on the sides. If it could be gold, check to see if very small diamonds possibly.

Some pieces from the 1930s plus or minus. I never get too excited about painted porcelain pins, but that one is nicely done. The hammered brooch with the amber colored stone is nice, but has some darkening, maybe could be polished unless that is finish wear. The pin with the red stone has a striking red stone, seems costume for sure, looks like the side stones are maybe glued in rather than set. The rose pin... is the rose part mesh or filigree? Could be sterling on the back, hard to see. The green necklace/earrings set with the small pearls, would love to see more of a close up shot, including the back of the earrings and a close up shot of the pearls. The blue Czech pendant, well we know it's Czech as it's marked...a handsome piece. Missing a couple of marcasites, but striking!

No idea about the cameo (possible that cameo was a later addition?? The backing looks kind of fancy with some genuine age, but the cameo looks sort of rough, like her profile is flat...unless it has damage or something.) First thought on the metal of that one was rose gold possibly.

I think your instincts are correct that #1 could be the most interesting. Where Cxgirl found that mark on the pin --- better photos needed if possible. Keep trying! Maybe I'm seeing "900"?? Something about the way those tiny blue (turquoise or turquoise colored glass) stones are set makes me think a better piece.

Love the green German/Sterling brooch -- well on your way to ID-ing that pretty brooch, definitely keep researching the Egyptian one.

I'm curious about what is in the rest of the bag, too! If there were Miriam Haskell earrings, means there could be better costume.

Thank you for your detailed analysis. It is very helpful. I selected these pieces out because they were the most interesting to me. There are some other pieces like a large sterling hummingbird, but mostly it was Napier, Trifari, Monet, and a slew of vintage pieces that I couldn't find marks on. I labeled everything I could figure out, but I'm not sure he wants a deeper dive.

I'm hoping to find the better pieces for him. I appreciate you helping me. I think your rose gold on the cameo is on track. I have been hunting around and found two similar pieces:

    Victorian Cameo Tassel Brooch (langantiques.com)

Antique Victorian 10K Rose Gold Cameo Tassels Pendant Pin - Etsy

Here are some better pictures of the others. The garnet piece has some wear, I think, so rhinestones.

Your right, the rose is mesh not filigree I'll check about the sterling

Seeing the green set with earrings close up, pretty set, but seems like the construction is not super fine. A bit difficult, not feeling the weight, just going on photos. Pretty set though.

In that bag -- plenty of Trifari isn't worth much, but if you spot any Trifari with impressive colored stones, jelly bellies, moonstones, fur clips, anything figural-- set aside for research. Certain Trifari pieces can sell in the thousands. (Maybe do a five minute tutorial, search 'Trifari' under "Ebay SOLD" and list highest first. It's pretty crazy what the top Trifari pieces go for.)

Not much I can add, but the amber rhinestone pin is probably early 30s; the amber glass was white hot then. The tassel cameo pin was made to hold a pendant watch. The green stone in the German pin looks like chrysoprase; it's probably from the 1920s. The hoop things with the clasps look like bead "reducers" or holders from the 80s. You had strands of stone beads, twisted them together a bit, and held them in place with one of those reducer things.
