Featured Norman Franks Pottery

Does anyone know what year this Norman Franks stamp might date back to? I have found a few NF stamps but none that match the below.

I haven't found the mark yet but I believe Norman W Franks was the retailer rather than the maker. Here is one of his catalogs from 1910-11

A google search on Bursley Limited provides some information collected by the Kovels. Apparently it was connected to Crown Pottery in Burslem. My suspicion is that the Ganges pattern was produced specifically for the retailer Norman Franks.

Hi Louise. I believe I can address this question. The firm behind this is Wood & Sons, Burslem. Bursley Ltd is an early mark for 'Rhead' Bursley Ware. The stamp dates c.1921. The decoration is a Rhead decoration which would be traditionally attributed to Frederick Alfred Rhead (being printed and painted). There is however the possibility that the decoration is one by Charlotte Rhead who was responsible for some lines from this period that are printed and painted. The other contributor who posits that Norman Franks was the retailer may well be right. There is history to indicate that Wood & Sons were providing lines to the retailer Hales Hancock, London, at this time. Otherwise, the connection between Norman Franks and Wood & Sons is currently unknown to me. Further, I note elsewhere in this section that someone has the Ganges pattern on a 'cosy teapot.' This item was patented by Wood & Sons as the items base stamp indicates. (c.1921). D. V. Williams, formerly, Charlotte Rhead Newsletter.
