Berkey and Gay chairs... Arts and Crafts??

These chairs are in lovely condition, despite not having seats, lol. Would the style be considered Arts and Crafts? The only reference I can find mentioning B&G (a Grand Rapids, Michigan company) doing A&C states, "A few Arts and Crafts style suites were introduced in the first decade of this century under names like “English Modern,” but generally speaking Berkey & Gay passed on the whole movement."
    I'd appreciate opinions, thanks!

Editing to add: I actually have six of these chairs: one with arms and five without.

These are similar to English arts and crafts period pieces but lack some of the flair. There are few other American precedents as such.

    Thanks for the reply. :)

I'm also looking for suggestions on style of replacement chair seats/covers?

    Hi,
English Arts & Craft fabric or to be suble just use black horse hair. Drop in seats.
Messi I like the owl fabric off to the side.

The fact that they "only" need drop-in seats should make things fairly easy.
Do you mean this owl fabric? I love it!

If you can find anything approximating William Morris designs, it would be quite appropriate.

I was thinking William Morris, too.

THey're a tad clunky and not free form enough to me for "our" A&C. But Morris fabric is always lovely.

I think that is what I was getting at when I said that they lacked the flair of the English arts and crafts chairs. The basic form is pretty similar and more English than American.
