    Hi all,
Taking a stab at finding a maker for this goblet, hourglass stem, English or Scottish maker probably. Stands 7 1/4"H. Not my initials but I'm tempted to keep this one, it feels good and is the only one I have.
    any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

I would say definitely Scotland, Thistle is the national symbol and the Mc L is someone like McLoid McLaren, McLoud

    thanks Dave and Lucille:)
yes, the symbol and initial are Scottish, but I'm not sure if the glass was made in Scotland or maybe England. Scotland makes more sense but you never know and it probably doesn't really matter:) Was hoping the hourglass stem would be a clue but seems like there are others out there, no id on maker though.

Almost certainly made in Stourbridge, given that was the great heartland of British 19th C glass. Even the engraving may have been done there: it's a bit like Birmingham with silver, stuff was commissioned and made for all over the Empire, let alone the UK. If a local Scottish engraver did the work, they probably bought the glass in. Shape and so on looks fine for the date.
