Quite possibly the angriest looking bacchante I've ever seen. Must be a mean drunk. I sometimes buy one thing to get another, although sometimes it works the other way round: just bought something gold to get something glass. But it may turn out to be Roman glass. Fingers crossed. :)

I shall have to add, that it is a bootjack. I believe they were given with boots in shoe shops in the USA. The LM on the side, is, I believe, the shop. I would have liked to see the name of the town or city in which it was located.

When you open it up, a bar goes down to hold it upright.

I LOVE it when my kids actually WANT some of my things .. I am now SLOWLY passing some of my stuff onto them, makes sense. My son NOW wants to give me some boxes of decorator plates .. they have pictures of old artwork on them, with certificates .. I don't know what I'm ever going to do with them, they belonged to his father-in-law now deceased. Donate them locally I guess ... Joy.

This we gotta see. You can always scrap the gold to pay for the glass! The bacchante is already spoken for on another site.

The bacchante is very cool. The chain is awesome!

Want to see the Roman glass....

Love the bird. Why can't that be the kind of glassware I find?

And I love the glass cleaning tips. Thanks!

Today was our local Community Garage Sale Day (been too long since I've been out to any kind of sale!) My prize acquisition - only $2!!

    Motawi Pottery Tile front.jpg

    Motawi Pottery Tile Back.jpg
I had never heard of Motawi until someone here showed off a 3 tile picture (beautifully framed) here recently.

While I was taking those pictures it occurred to me that I had not shown off a consignment shop purchase I made a couple weeks ago.

    Rowantrees Pottery !.jpg

    Rowantrees Pottery 2.jpg

I couldn't get a picture of the mark because of the dark color of the glaze on the bottom, but it's Rowantrees Pottery of Blue Hill, Maine.

@popsycat !! I don't know if you saw them or not, but was just 'cruising Etsy, and saw 2 boot jacks "like" yours......BUT, YOURS looks AUTHENTIC, and both the ones I saw looked like ---let me put it nicely.....poor quality castings....AT LEAST...to me!!! One was $150., the other was $98. and they both said "The American Bull Dog Boot Jack.....just some food for thought!!:smug:

Only 8 euros. I adore the art nouveau style of the carving but if it's commemorative art, the date confuses me

Also got these nice costume bits for 1.5 euros each.
