Featured Huge winged scarab brooch.

All those defaults point towards hand made or, at least, not mass produced stamping with painted cold enamel.
The scarab must be on a vertical pin.
Mine is truly mimicking the Castellani museum piece, up to the colors, and of course can't be the same masterwork

 

I knew you would agree with the dating, and find it interesting!

I thought yours looked very like this, when it popped up. With your trained eye, you can easily see the difference.

 

Another Castellani one will be your next bargain.

Big scarab finally arrived after a long postal glitch!
Well... My bet was wrong!
Not vitreous enamel but a nicely put resin. The findings are white metal when the brooch is brass. The mark is still to be identified.
Anyway still not so bad it will be a conversation piece if I dress as Cleopatra!

 

Ah well, bets are always hit or miss. This wasn't actually a miss, it is a pretty brooch, and an eyecatcher. But next time will be another jackpot.

On weekends? Or only for Christmas?

Will see how Christmas will be... We both have the flu haven't eat since 3 days... Hubby just began to be ill as he usually is on the edge of death for a simple cold, I fear...

 

I am sorry to hear that kyra. It is that .... flu epidemic, as if we haven't had enough over the last few years!
Take good care of yourself, lots of fluids and vitamins, if you can keep them down. I hope you'll feel better soon.

I'm not nauseous, but everything taste bitter and I'm not hungry at all (for once!)... If I manage to eat enough foie gras to get "crise de foie" after that, I may get rid of some of my excessive weight!
Man isn't willing to eat either... That is EXCEPTIONAL

It'll pass.

I'm sure you're already losing weight with that flu. (Which you could put back on if you eat foie gras.)
Just make sure you keep your fluid intake up, that is more important.

The rum punch sounds like a good idea! I'm drinking lemon ginger tea - tastes better than the black stuff. Adding rum... now there's a thought, if I still drank. (darnitt)
