I found this today at a thrift; I think it's a pan & ink or pastel/chalk? But I'm not sure.

Can anyone tell me what it is?
Can anyone make out the signature?
Any thoughts on it - if it's worth it I can take it out of the frame to see if pen/pastel etc or a print.

The 2nd one I think is a map or diagram that I found last week (along with a colored print of a old military ship + 4-5 vintage cargo ship photographs (all framed) - I wanted to show it to you because I thought it was cool & possibly rare - I've only been able to find one mention of the Bloc laying diagram/map.
It looks like a diagram for a jetty that was built in Italy - could it be an original?
    Thanks for any thoughts.

The first is chalk or pastel on Canson Mi-Teintes or similar art paper, a quickly but skilfully executed nude for popular sale, not student work or fine art. 1960s is my guess, based on the style of the face, but the materials & technique are timeless.

The second, a lithograph, illustrates the sinking of large stones to make a jetty at Marseilles, the major French port. Capeau is the illustrator - 'del.' is short for 'delineator', Latin for draftsman; Latour & Gassend are the printers. The steam engines would date it pretty well for someone who knows the history of technology in France - 1840s?, but it is likely a more recent print - no reason to doubt the 1861 date in the listing Debora found. The LIII in the upper right indicates it's the 53rd of some series. Following up from that listing, it's from "Travaux Hydrauliques Maritimes", a portfolio of marine engineering drawings.

The first could be conté, which is a cross between chalk and pastel.

@journeymagazine, @moreotherstuff and/or @2manycats, The signature is a beast to try & figure out!! I tried inverting & enhancing it a bit, and then another program to see if it could do anything with "Focus"..... not sure anyone will be able to interpret it though. I'm wondering if that looks like "1882" running kind of sideways along her leg further up though....OR is the style of the Nude too modern for that "POSSIBLE" date???? First image is inverted, SECOND is with added 'Sharpen-Focus'.....

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I keep seeing Ruhl as the last name on the first one... although could be something else. First name less clear, but maybe Jabeth or Joseph?
