Just sorting some jewelry I picked up at yard sales today. I'm not a jewelry person at all but have been keeping my eyes open because one of my daughters is going to make a vintage brooch bouquet for her wedding.

First, are any inexpensive gem tester worth getting?

Anyway, two of the rings I picked up are marked sterling (at least one is for sure). One I'm guessing is sort of a brutalist v band and is marked something like DVD, or CVD or maybe M (medium?)? Does anyone recognize the maker (or does it even matter?)

The other is sapphire color stone with clear stones and seems to be very worn to the point the band broke. It seems to be marked lightly and possibly maybe STERLING and WESTERLING? Can't tell if it actually says sterling. The question on this one other than wondering the maker, is it likely that the stones are real?

On a sterling band....I doubt the stones are real.

They may well be real, you can get low grade sapphires and white zircons for not a lot. It's a replica of Princess Diana's engagement ring, fwiw. But what I also see is a very worn CT.

I love the modernist one, let me go think on who dunnit.

    Nooo...nooo, I thought that for a second....but it's not.

    Inspired by...maybe.....but only loosely....if at all !

& yes the stones might be CZ .......but when I said REAL...I meant diamonds and sapphires ! REAL ones ...

I didn't think that the gems would be real but then I know so little that I thought I'd ask. I am by far the most unadorned person I know.

I did find another like the first modernist band for sale on Etsy but they don't show the marks clearly and say they can't read them so no help. If they can get the $40+ they're asking I'll be happy.
