These and I would love to know worth of this stoneware jug. The jug has no markings at all, but I assume its pretty old, considering the house it came from had several old style items. I feel like the smaller jars are much older than the big one. I paid 6$ at an auction for everything pictured. If these are worth double my money, I will be happy. Hi,
Glass Mason jars are from 1922 to 1033 and worth a few dollars. There were so many millions made and never thrown away unless dropped or broken. My Gram was still using them into the 1960s.

Yeah, I know they aren't worth millions, but was I correct in the thought the smaller ones are older? judging solely on how the " A " in Ball appears to be different.

    Hi,
I can not see them as well as the larger one but even if that A has a slight beginning it would still be the early 1920s.
Remember the jars were made from a tiny small jar holding about a cup up the the gallon size for cucumbers. The coloring is the common color made for years and years. If the coloring was a more blue or green or such it might have a small collectible and worth a dollar or two more. It is the least of the many railroad cars that were filled every day.

I will try to take some better pictures. I was wondering, could anyone tell me the SIZE of the large jar? I want to say it's 2.5 quarts, but I was not aware it was made in that size. I filled up a measuring cup ( 2 cup size ) and filled the jar up 5 times before it was full, if that helps. I believe the larger one might be worth more. Thanks in advance.

An appraiser valued my brown jug at 15$ no idea if that's accurate.

You can look at albany slip jugs and see if you find one in your size and shape that has sold on ebay or the like to get an idea of price.

I was amazed to learn (see Bdigger's first link above) that Mason jars are being reproduced, and have been for 40 years or more.

    Hi,
Ever since the craze in 1960s of caning jars started. Someone thought they would make a fortune reproducing them. people who know Mason jars know what to avoid. The average guy gets screwed by different colors and sizes. The Chinese are getting better in making copies in different colors and sizes. i reduced my collection from around 800 down to 20 of my favorites.

The large jar looks like a 1/2 gal with the others being pints. I still have over 700 jars of all types and styles and makes, wish I could thin them out like you Gregsglass. here is just 1 set of 4 0r 5 shelves!:cigar::cigar::cigar: collection (2-1).jpg
