    It looks similar to a doctors Gladstone bag.
    George VI was on the throne from 1936 to 1952 so date it to anytime between those years.

    i was thinking doctor's bag, too... partly because of the size and shape, and partly because of the stains, I'd assume from medicines.

    I kid you not,
    she was a very wealthy Italian widow, she put a large wedge of dosh in my shirt pocket on our wedding day and told me to get my friends a drink.

    She also leaned into my ear and said "If you ever upset my daughter I'll have you killed"

    She's long gone now, but I'm still waiting, the Mafia never forget. :cool::eek:
