I saw a nice sweetie box on here this week,it wasn't as old as first thought but was still gorgeous!

I have a tonne of old sweet and chocolate boxes, I just buy them at booties and fill them with stuff.
This one I have had for ages but thought I'd dig it out, it's sweet ( geddit!) as it still has most of the paper covering on it.

I had never heard of these sweets, and it's ages since I did any research on it and anything that I may have found out about it I have forgotten but I've just seen they changed their name in 1948 so this must be from before then.

I found a list in it when I got it, so cute!

A ping for @Shangas . Inside of this tin is what a properly old one looks.

I reckon that's pre war, Bou. I love the image: Osterley is now a suburb of London.

That's a really cute tin, Bou! Looks like someone used it to store their silverware!

It is lovely Bou, and a nice old one.:)
Love that too, with that village church. Not sure Osterley ever looked like that, but it is the charm of it that counts.
I think SBS is right, the list seems to be of the silverware kept in the box, really nice.
    Yep.:D:cool:

Oh, Osterley very much looked like that. There are some truly ancient churches and the odd mediaevel building survives.

Lol, you are right, I thought it was a list of food! Tbh, I didn't even know it was in there til I looked in it today, and have had it years.
I only gave it a cursory glance, thought she was buying two sugar loaves :O

Goodness how I wish the spoons were still in it, I have some of my own treasures in it but always room for more natch
I LOVE old packaging, have a real penchant for it ,got dozens of old boxes

I used to have a vast collection of these. Still have about half a dozen with personal collections. AF kindly gifted me a very local one, bless him.

The original collection was everything from sweeties, to Oxo, biscuits, pastilles, sewing needles, toffees, pills, tobacco, gramophone needles and all sorts of things. I liked it, but it took up a vast amount of space!

Oh my ... I didn't even think of all those things ... I have some old Cadbury tins. I think I have a gramophone needle box too actually, now you mention it
OT but have you ever read A Little Princess,Mrs B? There was a bit in it I LOVED as a child, I think Sara had a toffee tin that she filled with stuff she loved. Well...I think it was A Little Princess. Need to read it again to make sure. Some bits of books stay with you forever don't they! I remember the feeling of loving the toffee tin bit but not entirely sure which book t was :/

Cool graphics. I bet it lends a nice bit of atmosphere chez Boudicca.

Osterly? Isn't there a famous country house there, Osterly Park?

What sort of flatware is an 'apostle'? Or is that to distinguish those 6 spoons from the plain & silver ones listed above?
