What's this horse made of?

    Not jade, not soap stone. But, that's all I know.:wacky: The brown areas are rough to the touch, and the greenish areas are smooth. Thanks for your time.

    It does look like some type of Chinese turquoise from the photo - pretty colors!

    Same here. Not the prettiest Chinese horse I ever saw, but if it's real solid turquoise you did well.

    I think it's a stone called pyrophyllite, but you could also check mudstone, kaolinite, and metakaolin.

    Wow you all are the best! Thank you komokwa, kingofthings, quirkygirl, evelyb and moreotherstuff.:) I never even thought of turquoise but it does have some of that color in there. I will look into all of those great suggestions, thanks so much!

    Oops I also forgot to ask a silly question....when you say Chinese.... Do you mean the style of the horse?, or chinese turquoise stone? I didn't quite understand I'm sorry.

    It looks a little like howlite. Howlite is the stone that's used for dyed turquoise. It can be dyed almost any color.

    Thanks quirckygirl, I was able to figure it out and do some exploring!:)
    Thanks mill cove treasures, I will check into that one too, much appreciated. Boy this is harder than I thought it would be. I didn't realize there would be so many possibilities!:confused::)
