I bought the piece from a dealer in the UK, so this is almost certainly English. I'm not sure if that makes it easier or harder to track down the maker. D Y. I've searched extensively, but I can't find any "DY" results anywhere, and it's a very unique mark.

I'd love it if it were Tiffany, but...I'm not that lucky.

 

I'll have a look in Jackson's, just in case. It's most probably a Birmingham maker. Doesn't ring a bell though.

 

I've gone through the Birmingham marks, but it only goes up to D.W. So do all the others.

Any which go up to D.Y., don't have anything that looks like what mine is.

 

Was just going to amend my comment to I’m sure they had locations in the Uk, and likely Oz and/or S. Africa. I believe I’ve heard it was used there too.

 

I've seen Tiffany stuff with full on UK hallmarks. Mostly silver, but I know there was and is gold.
