Featured Few Chinese Cloisonne Pieces

    The darkness of patina on the wide brass bands may provide a clue. It looks pretty similar in coloration on most of the pieces shown.

    I'm in exactly with you on that Bakers. I don't know squat of them and not sure I'd trust Asian 'patina' either.

    Not an expert, but I would say on the newer side. The squat vase probably had a lid.

    I like them, especially the black and light blue pieces!

    They look Japanese to me, but I'm not an expert. I don't know if the Chinese have been copying Japanese cloisonne?

    Japanese and Chinese copied from each other all of the time. However, the pieces are most likely Chinese because of the Ruyie heads borders. Japanese ones usually have bands of small circles. Clouds motif is also common for China. Prunus blossoms can be seen on both Japanese and Chinese pieces.

    Interesting. I need to do some reading... I have some cloisonne pieces, but never looked into it too much.
