large lounge chair looks old

I got this 2 days ago for $5.00 from an estate sale . I don't see any names or anything on it. I guess the last owner nailed nails into it to put this blue fabric on.

Any ideas on a maker or era ?

1950-something would be my guess, and either the original upholstery was damaged or the wife just thought it was ugly. The design is 100% mid-century.

 

Thanks Evelyn, I was thinking that era also. I wonder if I should take the material off and look through the chair for hidden $$$$$$

looks like it has a slip cover on it, also is that carpet ?!?! lol.. if you shake the chair around u should be able to hear if theres change in it.. or it could also be stuck (low chance) i would only take it apart if you dont care about ruining it.

 

Wow, just what I was thinking. I’ll be shaking it tomorrow, and still thinking about it
