The mark on the bottom of this bottle looks like the ones I've seen online for Owens-Illinois, although it doesn't have a bar in the center. If it is Owens-Illinois, then according to the site below, it seems like it might be from the 1930s because it only has one number to the right of the mark. Does that sound right?

I didn't find any Owens-Illinois bottles online with this matte brown surface. I did find an Owens-Illinois green glass bottle on eBay (link below) with a similar shape that's being called a refrigerator water bottle.

Has anyone seen a bottle like mine before? What would it have held initially?

    Thanks for any help... :)

There are probably half la dozen reasons the I for Illinois didn't show up on this bottle. Unfortunately I know none of them. but it should be viewed as having an I in the middle, it was intended to have one. After all it is just a machine made bottle.

So I should assume it's an Owens-Illinois bottle?

I've seen a lot of their bottles in my searches, but none that are matte. Does that seem odd?

NEAT-O bottle!!! Looks very unique to me!!! What's got ME curious is what I've circled in red that looks like two hands clasped!!! Can you look at it with a loup and see if that's what it is??? Curiosity has the better of me!! How tall and wide is it too?? Thanks!!

    Thanks for the replies. :)

    It's about 7-1/2" tall.

I'm not sure what you're referring to as being circled in red... did you mean to post an image? I don't see anything that looks like hands clasped?

@George Nesmith Ah, so maybe it contained something like bath salts?

@Aquitaine No problem... last night I had a headache and couldn't remember all sorts of things. :)

I see what you mean... it kind of looks lie a clasped hand. But I think it's just a blob in the glass.

I could swear I have seen that mark before. But where?
Is that site from Butchiedog still around?

I think bath salts is a good possibility. Finding out whose is a real stumble upon.

@pearlsnblume From what I've seen online, the mark does look like Owens-Illinois, except that it's missing a bit in the center that it usually had for the "I" in Illinois.

@George Nesmith At least if I list this I can say bath salts is a possibility. The bottle is large enough (about 7-1/2" tall) that I can't think of what else it might have held other than possibly liquor.

I've tried quite a few searches and can't find anything like it other than the green transparent glass one that I linked to, and although it's similar it's not identical.
