Featured 1929 Hair Wave Appliance

This is a Hair Wave Appliance patented in 1929. I am trying to find out more about it. Has anyone ever seen one of these?

 

Cool Art Deco piece, albeit, it's a bit rough. Is there a name on it? I would be useful to see more of the innards.

It has been gutted.

Thank you. I had found this awhile ago. What I cannot find is any detail about the real hair wave apparatus which looks something like the picture below. This is a pretty unique item in my opinion.

AND I remember sitting under a similar machine ONCE when I was a youngster and Mom had me getting my first Perm.......Good Lord the machine was a MONSTER with all that hanging above one....a child didn't DARE MOVE!!

Compliments on the restoration work. Looks stunning. I have an affinity for Art Deco period items and this one is a fine example.

In terms of the actual curling apparatus, there is a figure in a drawing in the link that @say_it_slowly provided that shows it as a free-standing unit on a telescoping stand (Fig 8):
