Had a good weekends charity sale shopping. Did pay around £50 for everything but think I scored. Silver to follow.

The ring is 925 silver with tiny diamonds and rubies, the Links of London friendship bracelet was a surprise to see how expensive one is to buy new. The teddies may not be silver as is the opal necklace marked NS.

 

That looks like a pygmy rattler - lots of 'em down here in Florida, not as dangerous as the big diamondbacks, but you seldom get a warning from the tiny rattles, if they even have them, and they're usually in undergrowth (or in plants from local nurseries)...

The stopper isn't the oddness, it's the subject matter. Hovis is bread. The seller and I surmise it might have been for yeast, but who knows. I've never seen one like it.

I'd be a tad wary on the Links bracelet, there's a lot of copies around.

Yes, I did look at that. Mines ok, I think, it’s got the full set of hallmarks and on the ball things too at the ends.

Oh, that looks fine. I think a faker would be unlikely to go to such minute detail. I've got those cat earrings, bought new in the US about thirty years ago!

 

IIRC NS is an Avon mark. NR is common too. Even so, that's a nice haul!

 

Houseful, very nice, especially love the watch. I googled the name, wow!

I got up early and went to a bi-annual community yard sale. It is hit or miss, mostly miss the last few times. It seems the same people go and set up with the same items....but hope springs eternal.

I got there at 7:30 a.m., people setting up, extremely windy. I walked around and around, seeing what was being put out. Went inside and had a hot dog for breakfast. I had picked up a few things, no great finds, and was getting ready to leave after one last go round.

I saw a lady had put out an old, huge jewelry box. She must have put it out last, she never has any jewelry (she is a regular.) Another lady was going through everything, I joined her. I thought "rats, missed all the good stuff." But I got lucky. Under the last pull out drawer on the jewelry box was a smaller box. It had a bunch of costume rings, but this was also in there:

Unmarked, but appears to be Victorian rose gold, hardstone cameo.

Then I started going through the plastic bins she had out. Found this

Then in another bin I found this, my all-time favorite of the day

It was on a costume chain, and I went back to my car to do phone research. I thought it was a Victorian watch fob with etched green glass. This morning I saw the red spots, and figured out it is bloodstone. I don't know what the metal is; I will have to have it tested. I believe it may be 14k.

I did pick up some sterling from the lady, no great shakes, but got a dragon's breath ring, a Native American malachite necklace, and a few other things. And a ton of costume jewelry, again, no great shakes. I did buy her big old jewelry box (still had the key) for $3. And the prices? Everything was a quarter, but since I bought so much, I got a discount and paid $8 for a load of jewelry and the jewelry box. (I will post more pictures later.)

 

And the lady's jewelry box....I picked up the yellow "beads" at a thrift for $3, knotted yellow jade.

These chains, as you can see, were $5 each, but very nice. Both Italy sterling, and the one seems to be coated in 14k.

And another lady put this out last.... most if Helzberg Diamonds give-away pieces, but the lot was $10, sterling.

 

Sigh... I messed that post all up. The $3 jewelry box. Yellow beads knotted jade.

 

Wonderful, love the ring and bloodstone pendant, sometimes it’s just your day! I like the gondola brooch, it’s not made by Nardi is it?

 

No maker's mark.... I have a few of them. Seems they were tourist pieces back in the day. Yes, I love how the fob was converted into a pendant. The funny thing is, two of the women said they just wanted to get rid of the jewelry....I wonder if I will ever feel like that. I am ready to part with most of the costume stuff, but not the fine.

You had quite a day, too. Sometimes you have to spend a little to make a lot. I do it all the time.

Yes, I spent quite a bit on the Stieff teddy raffle too, it was for a cancer charity and I think I was their top spender.
I’m happy to try and get rid of things I trip over but the jewels are trip risk free!

 

The best news is that I told hubby he was buying the new dryer since I handled the tax bills. That gave him the incentive to take it apart and thoroughly clean it out.

Seems that the dryer filter/trap was clogged with nuts, bolts, screws, pool chalk cubes, and pencils he does crossword puzzles with. He now sees to it he cleans out his pockets before he puts his clothes in the dryer. The 20 year-old Kenmore continues to do a great job now. Good thing because monsoon season continues here.

 

This is a picture of a teapot? I bought at a thrift shop yesterday for $5. If it is a teapot, it seems to be missing a lid. Somehow, a "made in China" sticker was affixed to the bottom.... I do not think it was made in China.

Is the hallmark Staffordshire? I picked up a planter a few weeks ago in an antique mall, and I think it had the same hallmark. The dealer said it was Staffordshire. No price, they said they would call. Sure. Never did, never do when I find something with no price.

What do you think? I will post on the pottery board, but it was another find of the day.
