Looks like quite a young child in the ad photo.

 

Yesterday's haul. I got to a local charity thrift and found all sorts of stuff. The copper earrings have sterling backs, made for the tourist trade by a South Dakota outfit. The hippie ones aren't anything great, but someone will like them. The watches are a 1990 Swatch, dunno if it's anything good, and a similar vintage Garfield. The coral is coral. The rhinestone pins are a Weiss-badged D&E flower and a probable D&E butterfly. The cameos were sold as a set, but the necklace is 1930s Victorian revival costume and the earrings...aren't. They're 14k. The cows match something I already have, purchased for their sheer goofiness.

 

Yes, it is our house.There was a duct going through the wall. My husband got a bottle holding brick to go in the space. Clever of him.

The reason why I remember are much less painful now (xxxxxx etc. years later).
I was 9 years old when I had my first piano recital which was held at the school auditorium. I had a pretty little dress with a full skirt and a hooped petticoat underneath. I still remember finishing my piano piece, turning around to face the audience and then backing up to get back to my chair on the stage.

There's one in every crowd (a mischief maker) . . . and one of those got me good that day. Just before I went to sit down in my chair on the stage that rapscallion moved my chair back a bit and I landed quite unladylike on the floor of the stage, still half facing the audience with my hooped petticoat (and dress) high up in the air in front of me for all to see.

 

Oh heavens! I needed that laugh. Must have been mortifying at the time.

 

It was "mortifying" as you said. I haven't thought of that event in years and for the life of me I cannot remember that boy's name, dadgumit.

 

It'll come to you when you don't need it & are trying to remember something else altogether. The brain is a strange creature.

 

Another nice furniture find. Bought this chair for $25.00 at Goodwill.

It wants to be Victorian-era Chinese, but those are European map dolphins and a Green Man, so... dunno.

 

But is it worth 2 Grand US...???

I found an almost exact match with the top coil completely gone and missing many more beads that sold for $750. So figured mine must be worth 3 times that. Already got an offer of $1,200. I countered with $1,500 but no response. One of those pieces that I don’t mind if it doesn’t sell.

 

Beautiful chair, Brad. Great jewelry finds, evelyb. I went to community yard sale yesterday at a fire house, pics and stories later. I will also be posting some questions on the glass/pottery board.

I picked these 3 pieces up last night, I've had the spider and scorpion ones before but I've never seen one with a snake inside. I'm always glad when they sell, I feel a bit uncomfortable with them around.
