    Hey Forum!

While cleaning the basement of my new home, I found this watercolor. Cool right! Maybe from the 50s? Look familiar to anyone? I bought the house from a well traveled family. It was in a box with his old military paperwork.

    Any suggestions welcome!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I like it! It has an unfinished look about it, in the fence and some of the foliage in front of it. And appears to be depicting a scene in the western United States, or some other mountainous semi-desert area.

I like it too, and Fig is right about the appeal, borders on minimalism but not that.

It might have been a sketch for something else.

Dashed off by a fine or commercial artist. Unlikely you'll ever discover who.

And here I thought it looked rather "beginner".

Certainly done by a trained hand. Harder to do than it looks.

It's what an illustrator or oil painter would have done so they could do a "real" picture later in the studio. If this was a commercial artist you'll never track it down; those guys didn't sign their work even if you found the published version.

Perhaps ask the seller? He might remember where he purchased it.
