Dear all, I am happy to be back, after some time away from the limelight!
And today i have 3 items that i really need your help with; the first one being this ring, that i find rather cute and attractive, but i know nothing about it. I do not even know if it is silver and glass - but hope someone out there can help me out here. Country and age and any info would be highly appreciated! 2019-04-26 20.04.59-1.jpg 2019-04-26 20.04.44-1.jpg 2019-04-26 20.03.43-1.jpg 2019-04-26 20.02.55-1.jpg 2019-04-26 20.04.00-1.jpg 2019-04-26 20.02.55-1.jpg

I'll start off with looks Chinese to me.

I can vouch for it not being typically Mexican--it actually looks more Middle Eastern to me, but I'm just throwing out ideas, here.

Did not think about that, but you may very well be right. The main question is of course if it worth taken care of, or if it is just another tourist trap item- wherever it may come from!

What is that translucent blue material on the inside of the ring? It seems to have some variability to it. Take it back, I saw a bubble.

These are napkin rings, not finger rings, & can never guarantee accuracy of Pinterest descriptions. Said to be Chinese plique-à-jour/cloisonné.

Welcome back Torkel. Your lovely ring is Chinese plique-à-jour enamel. It is like cloisonné enamel but without a metal back, which makes it translucent and much more fragile. The metal is gilded brass.
The twisted wires instead of straight wires for the 'cloisons' were introduced sometime in the 1950's I believe, but your ring is much more recent. They made complete plique-à-jour jewellery sets, probably still do.

Just wondering, why did you think it could be Latin American? Did it come in a box with Latin American things maybe? Which I am sure we'd love to see.:)

Hi again, and great to hear your opinion and advice here! I have no doubt you are right! And yes, it came with a box of various Mexican items- and i will get back to more of these later, as you can see i have already got some great answers on the two Sigi Penada items, but more is coming... :)

The underlying blue band looks plique-à-jour to me, but wouldn't you have to consider the forms on top of it cloisonné? From what I can see, those areas are opaque.

Yes, they are. This type of Chinese jewellery is generally called plique-à-jour, but plique-à-jour with cloisonné appliqués would be more correct.:)
But then again, plique-à-jour is a subtype of cloisonné....:banghead::bag:
