And now for my questions no. 2, for all your good people in here! These two items i have been told is by Mexican Sigi Penada, but if i have problems with Norwegian and UK hallmarks, you can imagine the problems i have here! There are so many stamps it makes me dizzy, but the question is; can anyone verify that this is works by Sigi Pineda, and if so, is there any more information you can read from the stamps, like year made? Or any other information that would enlighten me.. Sorry for the image quality, bad light when the photos was taken! Thanks again for you all being here!
It is definetly not a choker, but a bracelet, have not got it in front of me now, so i cannot tell you the size now, sorry!
If it was a choker it would fit a cat... and if i tried it around someones neck, i am afraid that the only future i would have is from within four prison walls!
Disregard above. That’s the choker. https://www.etsy.com/listing/676737213/vintage-mexico-sigi-sigfredo-pineda The 256 and 526 are the design no’s.
Whow, very impressive, how on earth did you find the exact one??? Thank you so much, it was more than i could ever hope for!
Don't ask. I think it involves eye of newt & toe of frog. (For Torkel & other non-Anglophone members, Macbeth.)
Just a bit of translation for Torkel, inh is our resident research genius, no one knows how she does it, but this is the result: About the Sigi Pineda mark, it looks genuine. There are many fakes, but those are usually genuine pieces by other makers with a fake Sigi mark on a layer of silver over the original mark. The eagle mark was meant as a guarantee mark for sterling silver. Sigi used several eagle mark numbers, including 36. which you have. This bell-shaped eagle mark was used from ca 1955-1980.
This is definitely Sigi Pineda. He always sells Taxco "Tasco." I collect Sigi and these pieces are very recognizable.
It's always welcomed to get extra confirmation, even after we've established the artist, on a 15 month old thread !! Thanx !
I get it but a newbie may not. I think we should be clear that all new members are welcome as are their posts but unless I’m missing something, shouldn’t it be stated that old threads should not be bumped unless significant new information is added? Even then, in more cases than not, the original poster may no longer even have access to the questioned item. Meanwhile, welcome Carole!
Carole did add new information, about Sigi spelling Taxco as Tasco. Which is the way you pronounce Taxco.
Just not posted but clearly stamped. Apologies if you disagree, but I don’t think we should encourage threads that old from being bumped without significant new info unless by the original poster still seeking answers.
