Thankyou. It is a very good depiction of the sculpture. I shall put a little label on it with the name.

We are still jockeying for the position, but as of this posting this thread had the most views of any in the jewelry forum. :)

    I heard something encouraging yesterday!

I stopped in a friends vintage store and noticed she had 8 or 10 cameos, a lot for her. We were talking and she said young girls are starting to collect cameos and they have sold quite a few lately :D

Another of our assets heard from. Now, please tell me they are not collecting blue plastic Ponytail Girls. Well, sometimes that's how it starts. Thanks for the good news. :)

Ya gotta love translation programs. The original of this was in German. It describes a piece of jewellery. Can you guess what it means?

A stitching and a trailer-hitch make the small artwork dual portable.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

A pin and a bail mean you can wear the cameo as a brooch or a pendant?:bucktooth:

In other news, I'm watching the PBS series Victoria. Imagine my surprise when Queen Victoria showed up wearing a cameo featuring this "famous" character... :p

Ding, ding, ding - we have a winner! It was 'trailer-hitch' that nearly had me rolling on the floor. It's a cameo, of course, which they say is copied from a particular painting. They go on & on about the painting, the painter, the artistic themes of the day, & completely fail to mention the piece is signed G[iovanni] Noto, although the photos show it.

In the thread about how has antiquing changed you, that was my bit, jumping up when a character in a period drama is wearing a cameo to see what it is. 'Victoria' gives lots of opportunities for this. They were really egregious in the first season; a little better subsequently. Was amused by one episode in which the dresser appears to have a nicer cameo than the Queen does.

OTOH that could easily happen, and so wasn't totally wrong. Ponytail Girl showing up anywhere set earlier than 1965 or so is another matter.
