Little oil on board,any thoughts ?

Picked this up today as I fell instantly in love. What do yall think ? Its 9x12,and the graphics on the back make me think 50s-60s? No signature,is it art student or a little better than ? As always,all opinions appreciated.

I'm thinking possibly a student, but wait to see what others say. Have to say, I like it, too... partly because I used to collect pictures and figurines of people dancing. Every now and then I still buy photos of them.

 

Perhaps by an art student with a very poor attendance record.

 

Lol ! Good thing taste in art is subjective ! I like it,and I like the naivete most of all. It has a presence that you cant really convey with my oh so crappy pics ( batteries dying in camera,and I ran out of AA's !) ,the colors are so rich. Besides,I look at it and think of Elton John's "Tiny dancer" so it cant be too bad if it makes me think of that great song !

 

Outsider art if you want to give this a positive artistic twist ....... Actually, the artist was so far out that it would be hard to categorize. I was having a hard time even figuring out what I was looking at. At first I thought the figure was painted partially on the frame (that would be better maybe?). Then I saw a figure in a cardboard box. Took awhile to figure out that it is actually a room. Sorry, I see amateur all the way in this.

 

Its okay Brad,I am the buyer of Tomato head after all ! You'd think after decades of questionable buys,Id learn to NOT go after a 3 martini (bloody marys actually) lunch ! All kidding aside,I love it,and I thank everyone for their input.

 

I agree with student art.
Looks like a study of perspective.
