I recently took possession of a table my mom had from my childhood. There's a sticker on the bottom that reads "D.H.Fritts & Co. Chicago Solid Mahogany No.696". It has a top that twists to reveal a compartment inside, kind of like a game table I suppose. It was, unfortunately, painted but I'm hoping to restore it. I can't find any information about this piece online, does anyone have any information about it? Thanks!
with those claw feet I'm thinking Duncan Phyfe as the maker - I'm not a furniture person though, so I could be off base.

Probably 40s ,a nice sized and useful piece. Its probably sacrosanct for me to say,but I don't hate it painted and it would be pretty run of the mill otherwise. if your keeping it,restore it,if selling,just repaint it.
Being solid mahogany, this might be a bit older than the 40s. Most of similar style made then was veneer. I do think 20th century. Maybe circa 1920 based on the label style. If you are going to strip and refinish, being solid mahogany is a plus. A lot of very hard to repair veneer problems got hidden by a coat of paint. Solid wood can always be sanded to eliminate defects. In general, this would not be worth the time and effort to restore. However, if doing for yourself, have at it and enjoy the results.
