    Yours is superb !!!!!
2 bucks.......... I nominate this as one of the 5 best finds ever seen here !!!!!

I am envious as all get out !!!!...& I applaud your sharp eye.....& being in the right place at the right time !!!

I also give the back of my hand to those who let it end up in a thrift .... as having that in ones hand & not taking 5 minutes to figure out what it could be , is a crime against the human spirit of curiosity .
    It reeks of finesse....quality.....patience ..... ability.....study....hard work....and a love of completing a task like that !!!

    Congratulations ...Anund...........well done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS...I took mine and threw it across the room...on a carpet....knowing nothing untoward would befall it...... just cuz I could !!!
I'd never held a basket so hard, so tight, so remarkable in it's complex simplicity..!

Thanks Komo! It was in a plastic bag hanging on the junk grab bags wall, when I found it I b-lined straight to the basket section/shelf hoping to find more, no such luck! But there were 8 different Longaberger baskets from the 1980’s for $1.99 each to add to my step mothers collection. :)

Nobody knew what it was or what it was made of, so I got it for free...in a house clearing.
I did not pay much attention to it until I got home a noticed it might be ivory. And it got identified on a other forum as a Victorian hat pin holder!

NICE! My find of the weekend was an oopsie. I wasn't planning on going out on Saturday, but there was a sale "rain or shine" a few towns over that advertised jewelry. Found a vintage Mexican sterling necklace at the house of a lady who'd lived there for 50 years, some other stuff, and a watch. The watch was "only a dollar because it's quartz and I don't know if it works or not, and the band's broken".

Omega quartz Seamaster with the spider dial. I didn't know for sure if it was real until I got it home.

Mexican pottery necklace - made to appeal to potties, joolies and anyone into funky stuff. Liz Palacios necklace, not old. 1930s glass and brass Czech choker, the Mexican piece, signed Gerardo Lopez, and a watch chain I haven't tested. The slide is I think glued in one spot, but for a buck I wasn't arguing. It has little itty bitty initials engraved on the other side. DSCF1429.JPG DSCF1430.JPG

Hi - what is the size of this piece and how deep are the holes? The reason I ask is that I once had a similar piece, doubt it was even 3" tall, and the holes were only deep enough to hold the included ivory cocktail picks - don't believe mine would have been able to hold hatpins without toppling over...

Wowzer, I googled the Pomo basket and Omega watch- fabulous finds! I love this thread because I learn so much.

There was supposed to be an outdoor fair yesterday, but of course, it was a wash because of the rain. I found a few things, will upload in awhile.

There's no 'might be' about it; it is.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Last weekend I found this bracelet. It tests in the quartz range and the beads are cool to the touch. The color appears butterscotch or yellow in different lights. Some beads are almost a brown color. It's strung on an elastic band that I think is original to it and the elastic looks fairly new so although it was at an antique show I don't think it's very old. One bead has a crack in it but otherwise, looks good!

Too tired to get up. We don't do much Easter celebrating, so hubby took me to Wal-mart to stock up on cleaning supplies, then to the Acme to get some food.

I have been having a run of bad luck lately, but I like to see the silver lining in things. The car threw a strut while I was driving, but I have Triple A. Had it towed and fixed, including getting a "new" (for my car, parts from another state) exhaust system. That was about a thousand dollars, but the silver lining is I was able to get it fixed and I still have no car payments. I love my 1998 Lumina and it has allowed me to put money in a retirement account. I have only had two new cars since 1986.

Then my back was aching, I know my family has arthritis issues and I had an MRI on the lumbar spine 5 years ago. I asked for MRI approval for the thoracic spine this go round, and they found six herniated discs, three in the thoracic, three in the lumbar, plus degeneration, lumbar stenosis, and other issues all around. The silver lining is it is not impacting any systems and I have been going to PT after work and it feels better. Another silver lining: I am a walking barometer.

The taxes were the worst we ever lived through this year. The silver lining is I had planned for it and saved the money up to pay them. Done.

Then I was doing laundry Friday and the clothes weren't drying properly. Our dryer died. The silver lining is it was a Kenmore my husband had when I met him 20 years ago (plus it was older than that) and we really got our use out of it. Another silver lining is I made my husband put up a clothes line years ago and I am able to dry my clothes that way until we pick out a new one. I grew up without a dryer or any air conditioning, so it is no big deal for me.

So things are all how you see them.

Yesterday the outdoor fair was rained out, so I visited some antique malls.
I found this GF shell cameo brooch pendant (yeah, she is newer but I think she is so pretty) mixed in with a bunch of resin ones, and it was only $8. The lady also had some sterling earrings for $3 each. We got to talking and I found out she has tons of jewelry she just wants to get rid of. We agreed that I would come up one day in the summer and look at her things.

Then there was this antique store going out of business I had never visited before. I saw this $4 necklace, and I think it is cherry amber bakelite. 17 1/2 inches.

Then I visited my consignment shop guy. I got to pet his big chocolate lab, Hershey, and he let me look through a new box of jewelry. Mostly newer stuff, but I got this Christian Dior pin for $2.

And I got to visit an Amish market I rarely get to and I got the best donuts and some cheesecake for dessert tonight. Life is good!
