Is there a specific purpose for this? The arms extend from vertical to horizontal by pushing up at the set screw and there is a small 1/4" deep, 3/4" diameter well in front on the base. Total height is 7-1/2" and the arms are a total of 10" when fully horizontal.

Getting sort of a "church vibe", but honestly no idea!

Very interesting. Hope someone recognizes it.

    Hmmmmmm......
You may be very close with that! More so if it tipped back away from it.
    Any wax residue there???

Now Im wondering if there was some sort of glass insert that was indeed lit by a candle?

Since it doesn't appear it tips back how could you read anything? This close wouldn't be the best use of light unless there is something missing such as a reflector.
Perhaps whatever was read on it, if that's what it is for, was specially printed with the left page lines flush and the right flush right to clear whatever sat there....:wacky::wideyed:

    My guess:

At the front - glass tube with candle inside.

At the back - Scroll clipped into the wings and held up for reading.

I fail to see what else you'd put in that thing.
