I've seen this mark before.... silver cup/beaker/kiddush cup

    But it was on an old postage stamp. It scrapes up like it's silver, but I has me doubts as they say. The mark looks like a valveless horn/hunting horn that I've seen on old Scandinavian stamps. It's bitty - this is a shot through my 40x loupe. It doesn't however show up as a mark I can find and there are no other marks on the cup. The gentleman I got it from is Dutch, but what he thought were Dutch pieces turned out to be English and Scottish so...dunno.

    An interesting thought, Hollyblue. But doubt it would be a Gorham date code without the other standard Gorham marks.

    That certainly looks like it. The cup has to be fairly old though; their knives at least have a crown mark these days.

    Agree, Dutch silverplate. The range is called Keltum, but the manufacturer is Koninklijke Van Kempen & Begeer, who started making silver items in the 18th century. They started the manufacture of silverplate, named Keltum, in 1936.
