Assuming silverplate from the marks. I think I've ID'd the maker as Barbour.

Is there any special name for a vase this tall (17") ? Seems hard to use it exactly like it would tip over.

I think these marks below indicate silverplate and/or nickle silver?

Just noticed one more mark underneath these stars in the shadow of my camera. A "W" or an "M".

This piece is more of a curiosity than anything! It was in a garage at an estate sale for $3, and mostly the height of it is was resulted in a spontaneous purchase. Not sure it is even a good resale piece, but could put it out at small sale I'm doing with a friend. All info appreciated.

Even without a flared lip, they're typically called trumpet vases, have seen them much taller than 17" - they would hold long-stemmed flowers like lilies, carnations, roses, etc., and often just a single, showy blossom.

These 1920 ads show heights of 5" to 20" on one, 8" to 18" onthe other:

This modern aluminum version, at an event supply wholesaler, is 31.5" tall:

Didn't realize there were more responses. Thank you Bakers, Komokwa, Cheryl and OBB. Very helpful and much appreciated. :) Interesting to see the old advertisements for this kind of vase!

It was the odd piece ($3) found in a garage at the sale of an glass collector. I'd just never seen one that tall and figured I could learn from the multitude of marks on the base! Not exactly sure what is next for this one!

And I imagine it was probably one of a pair. No idea what happened to the other one.
