    Hi,new to the site.

Long time collector of glass, pottery, copper, bronze and some furniture.

I have had this for about 40 years sitting up on a shelf.I think it is late 1800 from India.Looks like a oil lamp with Elephants on each side holding rings under the trunk. The top is missing a part. Its about the size of a gallon of water.Any info would be helpful.
    What i really like to know are they hard to sell?Thanks 20190416_114709.jpg 20190416_114722.jpg 20190416_114734.jpg 20190416_114749.jpg 20190416_114809.jpg 20190416_114835.jpg 20190416_114854.jpg

    Welcome, Eddie.
A beautiful vessel, although it would benefit from a clean. It is brass, not bronze, btw.
The style is from NW India, probably Kashmir. I don't think it is an oil lamp. It looks like it works the same as a Kashmiri tea kettle, where the insert is filled with hot coals to keep the contents of the teapot or vessel warm.

I am sorry, I have no idea if they are easy or hard to sell. I think there should be a market for it, even though it is missing a lid.

Welcome. I see why you kept it so long. I hope someone new falls in love with it. Beautiful things should be passed on.

I agree a good cleaning is needed. Its been on my top shelf for about 30 years never touched. All this time i thought it was bronze.Inside my house it looks much darker.
