Featured Age of wooden bangle

Is it possible to date this wooden bangle by its assembly or style please?. Modern or vintage?
Sorry I don’t know what type of wood it is but two different types. OH wants me to sand it down and restain it- yes it no?!

The construction reminds me of bracelets I have seen that were made in India. Are you sure all elements are wood?

 

The black looks like water buffalo horn.

 

No, I just assumed it was two types of wood in a sandwich with the metal band. I’ll have a closer look- what else could it be?. OH did say part Bakelite but I thought it was wood.

 

That would explain why it looks a bit like Bakelite possibly?
I’ll go and have a close look. Is there anything indicative of horn to look for?

 

Good call Hollyblue!. Having looked at the black under a higher mag loupe it is definitely horn. What I thought was wear was lighter areas of horn. So probably Indian then?. Any idea of the type of wood or if it is modern?

Define 'modern'. Condition may be best clue. Suspect it could have been made any time between last week & the 1950s. May qualify as vintage, but not antique.

 

I agree, India, wood, horn and brass. I think ca 1970s.

Might be slightly later: I remember these in the early 80s. Just give it a bit of polish.

 

The metal would be brass or copper as it is quite common in Indian manufactured bracelets.

 

Given the yellow colour, brass, which is why I said it. Copper is not used much in Indian jewellery.

 

Ok not much but still it is used.

 

It is red, though, not yellow. So this is brass, as I said.

 

I am not quoting about this piece mate.(it's about usage of copper in Indian jewelry)
