welcome Rose...yes it does seem to be a nice warm sort of a place..its the people here that I think bring that atmosphere to the site...I'm new also but happy to have come after being invited, everyone seems genuinely kind and real..

 

Welcome, CCR. Was angered by your encounter with the odious bridge-dweller - and wanted to thank you for your service. My big brothers are Vietnam era Army vets, the younger with three combat tours under his belt.

My Mom & Dad were both in the Army, brother was Air Force & hubby a 31 year Navy Vet. I often wondered if DSS actually did serve. Not much else he said was true, so I suspect even that.

thanks for the hello,I am both happy and glad for your military family,I salute you and them all. I too have wondered if DSS was truly military especially after he stated that I was not his brother in any way shape or form, that's not something to be said by a fellow veteran who is proud of his service,but then I don't know what he is really thinking as he has created a bad reputation for himself among many. I was very taken aback by how many he has crossed. Sadly he lives in his own world of anger,resentment and possibly hatred. I cant understand that and never hope to, all I can say is I hope he finds peace in both his heart and mind..sadly he is a poisoned and a tormented soul.
the verse "As a man thinketh so is he" is so true...

Welcome CCR.....love the latin term,never heard it before I always liked non compos mentis and posted it to DSS once and received a slap.

BTW, my Dad was an anchor clanker and hated to talk about the war.

Hi, all. I was really happy to find out about this forum and am glad to be here. Thanks, Brad, for posting about it!

I'm Pat and some of you know me on eBay under the name "Lehman Parker". I've been a frequent lurker and occasional poster on eBay's Antiques board. Over the past year I stopped listing as much, but am working on picking up the pace soon.

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and have lived in the NW suburbs of Boston for a long time. My mother really got into antiques when I was a teenager and got me hooked, too.

One of the first items I bought in an antique shop was a small cloisonne vase with bits of the enamel missing. I didn't care that it wasn't perfect and have always thought the imperfections give it character. I've still got it after all these years and it's sitting happily on my kitchen window.

I've learned a lot from the regulars on the Antiques board, and am looking forward to learning more here and contributing whatever I know. Which in most areas, is a lot less than many of you!
