New here, hope to learn more about the things my mother loved so much

Hi, I'm new! I'm here because I'm trying to learn more about the beautiful things my mother collected for several decades. I've browsed your lovely forum and it's nice to see so much knowledge and enthusiasm!

Mom has Alzheimer's and doesn't really recognize any of her belongings anymore. My siblings and I are trying to learn more about her things so it will be easier when the time comes to sell them. Mom mainly collected antique dolls, some dating back to the 1700s, as well as smaller household goods.

We plan to start selling some items now to put towards her future care, so it's important to understand what we have. Plus we know that it will be much more difficult, emotionally, after she's gone. It's already heartwrenching to go through her things and know that the woman who put so much care into choosing them is no longer with us, not in the same way. Sometimes we get a glimpse and we live for those moments. Our goal is to learn and not let her down.

Hopefully we will be able to help you in some ways as well.

Sorry you have to deal with Alzheimer's, my MIL had it. I think it's worse for us who have to watch the decline. We're here if you need us.
