Will post clear images and close ups later. What is your first impression, a factory piece?
    Thanks

Do "factory" painters often put a date as well? I don't think I have seen that before, but that's just me. :)

Kardinalisimo, I don't get the feeling it is a "factory" painting.

I can't explain exactly why but I don't get that usual "factory" feel to that painting. Maybe it's because there are shadings and nuances and several different things depicted yet it doesn't see either over-crowded or just the "same thing" painted over and over again no matter how small or large a canvas is.

I find the shadings in the water's surface nicely done without trying to show all of the reflections on the water's surface which to me sometimes interferes with the "water" feeling. And from the photos you've shown, it doesn't look like the artist depended on "globs" of paint to make the painting look "painted."

Hope some of the above makes sense (at least as to why I like the painting).;)

I also think better than a factory painting. Signature looks like Sa-and to me. Could not find anything under that name.

Thanks for the replies. The painting does look nicely done but it's hard to see from those photos.
By the way, the front comes wrapped in thin film. Wonder if someone kept it like that all these years or it was recently covered.
As to the origin, maybe Thai? I am surprised the figures don't wear the typical hats.
Maybe the canvas can give some clues. What is the brand SK or something?

Also, I think the palette knife was used.

    Hi,
I do not think factory painting either. It looks more like one person did the whole thing. Usually factory painting have several different "styles" of painting from different people painting different parts. I really like this painting.

It looks lovely and I don't think it's a factory painting, either. I think you've got a good one there!

    Thanks.
I also think it is a "good one" but valuewise not that much. At least in my experience, no matter how good the painting is, if the artist is not famous, it won't sell that good. At least with the 20th century paintings. The antiques I guess are different story.
Here are few more pics. Still hard to take good images because of the cellophane. Maybe I will just remove it.
Forgot the size, image area about 29" x 19".

Good stuff? There is one good shot on every ten buys. I surely have more crappy stuff then good ones.
This one was at GW for pocket change. It kind if looks like a print if you don't have a closer look. That is why I like artwork with glass, it can be easily mistaken for print.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Well, nobody has purchased the one in the link -- yet. It looks like there are three watchers, though.
