'Hooker' Wood Biscuit Templates?

I've had this for a few years and have not been able to find any information on what it is. My guess is perhaps it was made by an individual, not mass produced. Although the wood biscuits I've seen have usually been oval, these are half-oval and they each have a slot they fit into. It is marked on one side with 'Hooker'. The bottom appears to have been glued to a surface at one time.

Any help on identifying this will be appreciated.

There appears to be a Hooker Furniture company that started in 1925.
They are located in VA and NC. I notice you are from Tennessee, next door to NC.
You might send a picture to them and see if they can id it for you.

Thank you for the responses KingofThings, Bakersgma, Silverthwait. A big thank you to Clutteredcloset for the link; I'll check it out. I did know that there was a furniture company by the name of Hooker but could not find any history this morning when I did a search.

To align flat pieces of wood, usually, by cutting a slot in each and gluing these in place. They swell up and Voila! :)

Kind of like an expanding shim?

    That's a good analogy. :)
There is a cutting tool (think a hand-held, horizontal, small Skil saw) just for this that is adjustable for height and depth. I have one.
If you were going to make a wide table of numerous boards you would do it this way. Keeps them all aligned and you can't see them.

Um. OK. I've got the principle. But I have no clue re the actuality. Will have to stop in my favorite hardware store and get someone there to demonstrate.

Now I DO know what a shim is!

These look like large, long versions of Woodruff Keys which are usually steel but as wood not sure how they would be used. W Keys are used to keep something from rotating. Think Harmonic Balancer on a Crankshaft.
I could see them being used to fill a board with a missing knot where it meets another to be biscuited but it would stand out unless the same exact wood, age and grain area.

Google "biscuit joiner." There are videos and step by step illustrations galore.

Morning, Milt! I don't think they're making it any more. Or if they are, it's not carried on KCTS at least. :(

I used to watch all that stuff all weekend long and suddenly it was Sunday night and I hadn't built or fixed anything! ;)

WGBH always had a full DYI schedule on Saturdays. I really miss that when the weather isn't good enough to be outside.

Norm is still on This Old House, helping out, but yeah "getting on." Aren't we all?
